CHICAGO SHELVING SYSTEM 1997
Designer: Blu Dot Studio
Materials: Hardwood veneer on engineered board, powder-coated steel
Smart parts. This shelving system is created by combining two very simple and easy to manufacture parts – a five-sided wooden box and a steel pole. No costly tooling was required, just clever use of off-the-shelf materials and common fabrication equipment. The repetitive production of only two parts allows for efficient mass production and yields numerous configurations. The Chicago system was one of our first designs and is still a top seller today.
