This project started with the help of Trine Ellistgaard as a multi-focused endeavor: to provide women in Oaxaca with employment while also finding a creative use for the smallest fabric scraps generated from dosa’s production. Each heart is handmade, hand-stitched, and hand beaded. As of 2018, over 111,000 hearts have been individually made, using more than 600 pounds of dosa scraps.
