NYS AHPERD Announces New 2020 Grants

The athletic director at North Tonawanda CSD in, Jeffrey “Jeff” Alger resides in the city of Webster, NY. Throughout his time working in his current position, Jeffrey Alger has personally attended meetings of the New York State Association for Health, Physical Education, Recreation, and Dance (NYS AHPERD), and also trained staff on the association's guidelines.

Dedicated to promoting physical health in the field of education, NYS AHPERD upholds national standards for health education, supports PE programs in schools, and encourages students to make physical activity a regular part of their lives. The association seeks to further this mission for future generations through its charitable foundation.

Since its establishment in 2014, the NYS AHPERD Foundation has supplied grants and scholarships to empower professionals in the field of health education, and also advocated for physical activity in schools at a national level. In light of the current economic challenges offered by the coronavirus shutdowns, the foundation has announced several new grants in 2020.

Available for schools in New York state, these grants consist of two $500 grants for equipment and one $3,000 grant for program development. Recipients of the grants must have been NYS AHPERD members for at least 8 years, and intend to implement the grant funds within the next year.
