Shared Instruction - Led R&D design teams in digital media and emerging technologies to gain an understanding on how it may impact the needs of the primary educational market. Research findings and forward thinking strategies resulted in maximizing the plan of the user interface design for the Wonders Reading Program. This initial prototype sample reflects concept, art direction and project management applied for this week of instruction in Grade 4. These lessons are typically viewed on the interactive white board or presented on computer and most digital devices. Similar content is also viewed in the Shared Instruction printed component.

Weekly Opener / Oral Language
Did You Know?- (top left tab) Weekly image comes alive in video to build background and content on the topic.
Video- Builds background, it is is a teaching /entertaining moment containing facts or poetry etc. Narrative is friendly in a tone that would capture the students attention.
Did You Know?- (Top left tab) To better understand the concept/ background, project photos.
Talk About It- (Mid left tab) Record the information learned about the concept and building background in the interactive Graphic Organizer and save it.
Weekly Lesson View- (Bottom left button) look to see and navigate through the weeks sequence.
Page Navigation- (Top left navigation) toggle left or right using the prev  or next buttons
Student Avatar- (Top right navigation) choose from a library or make your own. It helps prompt/coach student.
Student Notebook- (Top right navigation) record notes assignments
Chat- (Top right navigation) social media feature controlled within the class where student communicates with teacher or peers discussing the lesson/assignments etc.
Progress Map- (Top right navigation) Student friendly way to track their progress in navigation learning through the Unit.

Story 1- "Living in Alaska" -Vocabulary/Comprehension
Vocabulary- (Mid left tab)- Focus on vocabulary and using context clues. Your Turn-Text Detective Mascot appears to prompt student with questions.
Vocabulary- Key word definitions in the body text can be accessed in Visual Glossary. It contains a video/sound for pronunciation as well as an instructional vocabulary routine to practice understanding of the meaning of the word.
Comprehension- (Mid left tab)- Focus on comprehension. Your Turn and Text Detective Mascot appears to prompt student with questions and to fill in the interactive Graphic Organizer.
Fun Stuff- (Bottom left tab) Build additional background. Added features include a video and graphics and maps.
Story 1- "Living in Alaska", second screen- Notebook feature is tapped and a post-it note appears and student/teacher can make note.
Chat button- Example of Social Networking feature happening in the classroom.
Reading and Writing- Left side of lesson is an excerpt from Story 1. Right side is a sample written be a student relating to the theme of Story 1. Above is questions directed at the reader to answer/practice what they learned about ideas and content in this weeks lesson.
Story 2- "Flycatcher and Coyote"- (Click the Summary button) The Language Summary pops up, viewer selects language and in the summary of the story is revealed.
Story 2- "Flycatcher and Coyote", second screen- Teacher led prompts are introduced and pointed out within the text.
