GRANVILLE PARK, HALIFAX, NOVA SCOTIA
2018
Concept through Construction Documents
Granville Park tells the story of the historic city, urban renewal and the waterfront. The park is laid out on the historic city grid, altered forever by drastic demolition to construct the Cogswell Interchange. Plazas and pavilions reveal former building sites. The layout extends the historic Granville Mall along its former route, with new outdoor rooms surrounding fireplaces and planters. A splash pad provides interactive entertainment, and a fountain remembers the protesters that stopped demolition of the remaining blocks of downtown. A grand stairway leads to the new Barrington Transit Plaza, an urban overlook with planters, custom shade structure and patio space.
