Last 100 Years - A Coloring Book, 2018
The most notable catastrophes of the last 100 years are presented as a coloring book. Starting from the ludic gesture of filling shapes with color, the public rediscovers the photographs that became a true icon for of the most notable events of the recent history.
Several images became true icons for the reality we are living in and our recent history is being shaped by them. The aim of this project is to bring together into a coloring book the photographs of the most shocking moments from the last 100 years.
Using the idea of writing a story, of discovering and rediscovering a series of events through ludic gestures, this book can be considered a re-telling of the past by using its narrative character. It is, in fact, the story of the events that shaped the past and helped us acknowledge their importance for the current society.
The main idea of this project consists of a well-known paradox: if an image becomes extremely well-known, the public will start ignoring it. Certain details are overlooked, and the message loses its value overtime. By bringing into discussion a series of powerful and widely-known photographs, I intend to bring them back to life and reintroduce them to the public.
