Introduction of Behind The Design Exhibition
We use a formula to convey our core concept :
Design = Considerate ( People x Problem )
It means design has to be considerate and people-oriented. The exhibits on display, the way we present the exhibition, and the space design of the exhibition follow the formula. Making design no more a difficult thing to be understood and making design exhibition closer to the viewers are our goal. From the viewers’ perspective, we assume these two things would make the exhibition more considerate. And thus, our CIS design presents a kind and lively image.

Curating
To present “ Behind the Design ” is because it’s a better way to convey a design to the viewers.
We’ve curated exhibitions in our department at the end of every semester for four years. We found out that for most of the viewers, our works are just some exhibits. No matter how elaborate our description was, it was still not attractive to the viewers. They might just quickly browse them. However, if the designer of the work was explaining it, the viewers would have a clear impression of the design.
What we want to achieve is to transform these oral explanations into physical contents in our exhibition. Thus, we can make those stiff background research and problems which need empathy to understand become a wonderful experience in our exhibition.

Core Ideology
The initial motivation is to exhibit our content in an interesting and inspiring way. Viewers will be able to understand the story we want to tell and immerse in the scenario by everything we display.
All the design works, objects and experience in the exhibition are surrounded by the consideration of “people”. We spent lots of time thinking about how to meet the needs of users and how to create a better experience for the viewers. To us, this graduation design means not only a single project but also “how we deliver our design to the users/viewers by curating an exhibition.”

Our Targets
To bring the viewers closer to the design, and to connect us with investors and cooperations for more future opportunities are our targets. We think that if our design products are just displayed on a platform, it would be difficult for the viewers to have a true connection with them. Also, it might be difficult for the viewers to understand the background of the design. On the other hand, instead of passively waiting for investors or cooperations to come to our exhibition, this year, we actively invite them to “Behind the Design” to give us advice and create more opportunities. Lastly, we hope to bring design closer to everyday life and to last our design’s influence after the exhibition.

Exhibition Design
To set our exhibition apart from common ones and to get viewers fully involved in, we not only present our final result but also reveal the stories behind them. Therefore, “the design process area” is added to our exhibition this year. It aims to make the viewers have a clearer insight into the design journey and a whole new way of exhibiting each project to the viewers. There are two features in each project's area. Firstly, the scenario is created by the exhibits on the "scenario wall" in each project. Secondly, there are several key points shown in every project. Each point can lead to a story behind it. These key points are divided and displayed in groups to let viewers absorb numerous information easily. The relatively low height of the tables also makes the products pop out and draw the viewers' attention. From the first glimpse of the scenario wall to key points, viewers can thus slowly and thoroughly understand the stories behind the design. Meanwhile, by breaking down the design into the stories behind it, we could shorten the distance between the viewers and the design.
