HyperX Earbud Packaging Concept

One gaming company I always pay attention to is HyperX, a company that sells mostly gaming accessories, the most popular being headsets and earbuds made for gaming. The thing that stood out the most to me is how they use influencers, rappers, and esports athletes as the face of their brand. I wanted to bring this to the packaging design, to have a better correlation for people buying their products.

I used one of their more popular faces, Michael Grzesiek, aka “Shroud” who is an ex-esports athlete and now one of the most popular streamers in gaming. I used a poppy color pallet to emphasize how gaming can be very exciting, and that having the best earbuds can enhance that experience. I also had highlights of red to go along with the classic HyperX color. You see in their commercials they use a similar style with dots as well, but I wanted to take it a step further to make them actually show detail in the portrait. I emphasized the product more by adding highlights, shadows, and a cast shadow on the portrait; as well as having an extra cord going behind the subject, and bleeding off the page. For the headline I used TypestarPro-Black, which was the closest I could find to their typeface used, also I think it adds to the tech feel of the illustration. The rest of the type if Avenir. On the side panel finally, I added their slogan “We’re All Gamers”, I felt this needed to be emphasized more in their packaging because of how optimistic it can be. Getting into gaming for people who aren’t quite educated on the genre can be overwhelming, and this will lead to more interest.
