Year 3, Project II
This project looks into the needs for a rest area at the top of a pulic walking track on Mount Kaukau, Wellington.
The aim of this project was to take a space the size of two 40ft containers, and transform them into a space for refreshments and relaxation.
This building has a transformable facade, which can be completely closed up to the elements of the wet and windy Wellington weather. Each facade is made of a timber structure that folds back into itself to create unique borders that frame the view that is seen from the top of the mountain.
Each element of the building is set to the current New Zealand Buidling Standards.
