User Experience Prototype

Anushaasan Nirmaan
It is a campaign designed for the people to promote road safety among the pedestrians. The government of India everyday encourages its citizens to abide by the traffic rules. There are many rules for the people who drive a vehicle around the city but very few for the pedestrians crossing the streets. It was a group project in which we came up with a Gamification Strategy so as to ensure following of traffic rule of stopping BEFORE the Zebra Crossing, which is very easily broken, in India. This helps enhance the user experience of crossing a road, especially for pedestrians.

The Working
1. Each crossing would have 4 Ultrasonic sensors with buzzers positioned inside the footpath at the corners of the crossing.
2. The sensors would be attached to the Red light of the Signal. As soon as the signal turns red, these would be activated.
3. Any car that comes in front of these sensors, the buzzer would start buzzing and the camera would capture the car no. of the driver. The buzzer would buzz for 10 seconds and then stop to eradicate noise pollution.
4. A text message in the form of Warning would be sent to the registered mobile no. of the vehicle. 2 Warnings for the same will be given and if the same is repeated, a challan of INR 2000 will be charged.

Gamification Strategy
To encourage vehicle owners to follow traffic rules, we came up with a strategy of negative as well as positive gamification:
    a. Negative: Challan for drivers on coming under the sensor radar for third time.
    b. Positive: If you break the rule after 3 months from your first challan, you will get 25% off on the challan, 50% after 6 months and 75% after 12 months.
This is the generation, where everybody needs and craves validation from others for everything they do, hence we have introduced the concept of stickers which will reassure drivers that they’re doing something good. These stickers will be rewarded to drivers on the basis on their car not having any traffic rule breaking record for at least one year and will get upgraded every 2 years. These stickers are merely to encourage drivers to keep following traffic rules and assure them that their good deed doesn’t go unnoticed.

Product Prototype
The prototype has been made to give a proper understanding and a demo of how our product is going to work.
It shows the working of the sensors which are dependent on the traffic light. When the signal turns red, sensors get activated and in case a vehicle stops on the zebra crossing, sensors will detect the car and make a sound which will warn the drivers.
As soon as the signal turns green, sensors get deactivated and the drivers can now freely pass through the crossing.
