The brief of the project was to develop an interesting sunshade, which creates an inviting environment and enhances the natural feel of the Open Air Theatre at MICA institute in Ahmedabad, while making it more comfortable to sit in.

The project started with an in-depth study of the institute, its campus and the open-air theater in particular. It progressed with developing a suitable mood board for inspiration and then exploring different fabric construction and embellishment techniques to achieve the given goal. 

Once a concept for the canopy was finalized, a suitable structure and suitable materials were chosen so as to make the canopy aesthetically pleasing, durable and weather-proof. A third of this surface was then prototyped and exhibited at the National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad.
