Travel Iron
Irons are one product that have gotten trapped in their initial design form. All irons look the same and use excess space around internals to mimic the form of the other irons on the market. Design can look to tackle products that are done over and over again without adapting to the changing styles of product design.
Pushing the form and user experience of an iron can allow for a more minimal and compact solution.
Hotel irons are often low quality or damaged which can cause damage to your clothes or even fully destroy them. A travel iron is a way to prevent this problem but the current solutions aren't compact enough to carry in luggage or backpacks.
Exploring form helps lead to a new user experience that can be intuitive while also saving space. An iron uses a triangular base which drives the form. A thin yet long form can allow for ironing in two orientations. The length allows for ironing large areas while the width allows the iron to get into smaller areas.
Final development explores user interaction between button interface and hand grip. The final design considers ability to stand when not using, chord storage and most compact form.
Prototypes were used for further exploration on button interface, size and stability.
