How can graphic design communicate the mental health risks in homeless youth and educate youth in supporting their peers?

Stories of Change aims to educate and encourage youth to support their peers in the classroom and create a positive discussion of homeless youth in Australia. The care and assistance Australia’s homeless youth needs is not being met by programs set in place to assist the homeless, due to their implementation to assist homeless adults with children as secondary. Assumptions are being made that children are going to receive sufficient care from their accompanying parents who go through homeless shelters and programs. Unfortunately these assumptions are wrong and as a result, Australia’s homeless youth are becoming increasingly helpless, their well-being is de-escalating and their mental health is at severe risk. School environments can become a safe and positive environment for a child with the proper education. Exposing the correct information to children about the different types of homelessness and emotions that come with the issue, provides a safe and supportive environment for those in need.

The content in this story book has been altered for security and the characters are fictional.
