Wyoming
2008-2011
I was born in Wyoming. My memories growing up were of bitter cold, howling winds, and wide open plains. When I returned with a camera, my eyes were opened to the vast beauty which exists here.
Death Canyon, Grand Teton National Park, WY
The Teton Range is an incredible geological and aesthetic wonderland. The mountains have prominence unlike many other mountains -- they lack foothills and thus a great, imposing presence.
Little Laramie River. The river has a very wide swing of currents throughout the year. Captured mid-summer runoff.
Vedauwoo. I made the mistake of not carrying a compass on this particular outing. I mistook one beaver pond for another and became trapped by a very dense fog. The night spent in Vedauwoo was cold, with a light snow, and frequent stirrings in the trees. When I finally had sunlight again, I was able to reorient and get myself out. Before taking the trail back, however, I had to setup to catch this sunrise.
Laramie Valley. A view down the Laramie Range unto the city of Laramie. Laramie sits in a valley between two ranges (the other being the Medicine Bow Range), which makes for a plethora of activities in a very short distance of the town.
The Diamond. Looking up from the base of The Diamond, one of the peaks of the Snowy Range and my personal favorite. This peak is streaked with purple and pink quartzite, featured also in the foreground.
