This was my analyses of the connectivity of the site in relation with other parts of the town and other facilities.
Site Plan
After a few different site analyses, this is the site plan that I came up with to position the building facing the South with landscaping to help with the natural elements.

This was a sketch I did showing how the Light will make it into the Lobby during different times of the year and how to introduce as much natural light as possible into the space. Other techniques are used throughout the rest of the building. This also shows how light wells will be used to move natural light deeper into the building.
This shows my idea of a lighting system that will mix natural and artificial light with lighting sensing to use as much natural light as possible to light the space but supplementing with LED lighting to give more light when necessary. The rendering is a quick concept of how the lighting would work in the lobby area of the building. The light well system is showing in the previous picture.
Southwest Building Wing
This sketch shows how the clerestory windows will be used to create a natural ventilation system in the building when the Idaho winds allow it. Other window configurations will also allow for a night purge to be used as well.
Northeast Building Wing
This sketch shows how windows will be used to for the air exit of the natural ventilation system. This part of the clerestory is narrower due to the exam rooms in the part of the building. Other windows, doors and vents will be used to evacuate the air from these rooms.
This is a bird’s eye view of part of the site showing show energy saving strategies for the building. The architectural solar panel roofing system might be a few years down the road until its full feasible but personally it’s the only way I will put solar panels on a building.
These are some of the details of ideas I had for the building in energy saving ideas as well as passive ideas.
