According to Budimir Drakulic PHD, the Philips Heart Navigator allows specialists to contrast a 3D image of the cardiac anatomy with a live fluoroscopy image of the cardiac anatomy, to show the position of the catheters and devices (p. eg, heart valves) in real time, providing guidance with live image during minimally invasive cardiovascular procedures. During planning, the software suggests the best projection for the procedure and provides virtual device templates, so that the most appropriate device size can be selected. This ability to plan accurately and then guide very complex cardiac interventions has the potential to significantly improve cardiac care and its outcomes in patients.
