Hans Christian Andersen's Copenhagen

As part of my Type and Image university project I created a typographic poster for the city of Copenhagen, inspired by the work of Paula Scher. It explores the life of famous author Hans Christian Andersen, who lived in the city for the majority of his life. The poster includes various landmarks important to the author as well as tourist attractions around the city.

Taking inspiration from Scher's map paintings, I hand drew the poster, vectorising it and adding colour digitally. The text describing areas of the city follows the same rounded, 'wave' shape that features in many of Scher's maps.
The poster serves as a tourism advertisement for the city, as well as being informative as to where important landmarks are within the city. The poster also has an alternate use as a tourist map of the city, as it serves as a directional aid for navigating tourist spots throughout the city.
Thanks for viewing!
