VENICE ARCHITECTURE BIENNALE 2018 – ELEVATION
In support of andramatin architects’ installation in Venice Architecture Biennale 2018, we provided the graphics within the installation environment. Titled “Elevation”, the installation exhibited Indonesia’s many forms of vernacular architecture. Indonesia’s traditional houses took on different heights, location-wise and construction-wise. The installation required the guests to walk through different levels of stairs to have a look at each house models. Our work for the exhibition is made within the theme of heights and layers. Our work comprised of signages and environmental graphic, one of which is a map of Indonesia that showed the locations of each house. One layer of the map is made from Indonesian batik from Sejauh Mata Memandang while one layer is made from sheer fabric.
Elevation
The theme of this installation is elevation, in which andramatin architects explore the notion of differing heights and forms of Indonesian vernacular architecture. Our design is informed by the concept and further communicate its theme.
Sign System
The signages for this installation are all made in Indonesia, in line with its installation materials which employed a mix of traditional and contemporary
production methods.
