The City of the Future

This illustration was the final result of a semester long group research project in our Problems in Contemporary Design course, where we looked at and evaluated current trends and issues in technology sectors and predicted different future scenarios. These scenarios ranged from utopic to dystopic, but also in between as we considered how these technologies would affect the everyday lives of people in the future.

My roles in this project: research into current technologies and trends like autonomous vehicles, smart homes and the rise of minimalism, extrapolating on the pessimistic collapse version of the future and brainstorming scenarios in which these technologies and trends turn out to be worse for society than we had previously imagined, and creating this futuristic apartment illustration as a demonstration of a positive scenario in the future where cities make more of an effort to invest in regenerative architecture and sustainability.
