Reminiscences/ Reminiscencje

A capsule - part of a spaceship or submarine that allows one to survive under isolated conditions and protects the most precious matter - life. The capsule can also be used to store material things that carry other values - our memories. This is the main purpose of time capsule, in which every creator, according to their subjective judgment,  places,  objects which carry valuable knowledge about life in a given period of time, safely stored for future generations.
These two issues - the memory and willingness to preserve and protect personal values are the conceptual basis for my project.
As far as the form is concerned, I place various compositions, created from natural resources, well known to most people from my part of the world, in cut and welded capsules made from steel barrels
By filling the interiors of those capsules with dandelions, flowers, tree bark and moss, which I have carefully collected for months with my own hands, I am making an attempt to evoke memories amongst my recipients using visual, tactile and fragrance  stimulators at once.
I am changing the composition made of capsules into a total, multi-sensory installation. Nature closed in the installation is my universal medium known and available to everyone, I am simultaneously attempting to extract its subtlety by combining and emphasizing the variety of forms it takes. I am exposing my own time capsules, containing my impressions and reflections over the fragility of nature. in front of the viewer,  I am opening the capsules  prematurely, without waiting for the  hundreds of years to pass. I am opening them quickly according to the pace of life of people my age, and with the pace of changes and the degree of degeneration taking place in the surrounding nature.
