The aim of this exercise was to create a kinetic sculpture that would slow down a falling ping pong ball. The main material was paper and cardboard, but I also used some other metal parts.
The mechanism I invented is based on a gyroscope, a part that stabilizes the surface of the circulating objacts. I used this mechanim to achieve a movement of the spiral in three axes. When the ball is falling down, it disbalances the hexagonal spiral staircase and thus causes the whole object to move.
