Salvage Garden began as a backyard hobby that turned into a small business selling plant vessels created by using up-cycled and reusable materials. This included cement planters that used plastic containers as molds, old window shutters made into planter boxes, and air plant hanging modules created from old pipes. I sold these at street fairs and eventually opened up a small brick and mortar store which expanded to sell other hand-made objects by other local artist. The products were also featured and used as fixtures in Banana Republic stores around the United States.

DESIGN OBJECTIVES
• Create a cohesive brand concept for a start up business
• Design and fabricate vessels for plants created by using repurposed and reusable materials
• Expand brand, marketing, and sales

PROCESS
I created a branding system including logo, labels, and signage to promote and sell around the San Francisco Bay Area. The branding concept expanded to a store space where I continued to sell and market my products with a focus on natural and earthy tones. For the logo wordmark, the gradient green colors are accented by the typeface, Megrim, with its experimental angles and rounded curvatures. They are complimented muted earth tones, and the friendly, Recoleta typeface and cleaner san serif typeface Proxima Nova.
