Treasure Island Cover Design

For this project, we were to choose an object and take up to 30 pictures of it with lighting and angles in mind. Over the course of three weeks we worked on this, taking more and more pictures each week.
These are an example of the photos I took with different light sources and angles.
We were to see what book or play the people around us thought these pictures represented and then finally make the cover of a book with a book's title and author on the cover. We were to keep in mind the mood these would set as well as what the pictures could symbolize.

Here is the final book cover that I felt conveyed the right feelings.
Finally we created a mock up to see what these designs might look like on the cover of a book.
The final mock-up.
The book is called Treasure Island but the image shown on the book cover is of an empty treasure chest. This could mean several things to the reader. If taken literally, it could mean that there was never any treasure on the island that these characters are going to. Perhaps it means that there is no fulfillment in the treasure and it will leave the characters feeling empty, just like the treasure chest. No matter what someone interprets the empty chest to mean, they will not truly understand what it means until they read the book and find out why the treasure chest on the front is empty.
