RECLAMATION

Reclamation is a record of wandering.  I love heading off into the pockets of woods in central Connecticut that Ive been exploring since I was young.  I have driven up and down nearly every street in the area in search of something that I havent seen before, yet the landscapes are so familiar to me.  The dark brown Traprock and the hemlock forests are like old friends.  Its like discovering home.  So this exploring has been like being in the film, The Goonies; I have been pursuing the treasures hidden in my own backyard.
I have found abandoned structures, lost paths, and forgotten relics.  I made records of the things I found and raced home to research old maps and to chat with the old timers to uncover the mysteries.  I found myself dissatisfied with simply being aghast at the waste and irresponsibility to our planet.  There was something else out there that was more than a rebuke.
I found peace when I could hear the testimony of creation.  Those places that man called his own to tame and subdue, and ultimately forget and abandon, could be reclaimed and remade for its original purpose.  This is not an indictment but a message of hope.  Creation shows us that there is nothing, no-one that the Creator cannot make new again.
