This Invitation Card for a gallery opening focuses on the art and ideas explored in James Rosenquist: A Retrospective and techniques he used for creating his collage paintings.

James Rosenquist created source images derived from magazines often pairing them with preparatory drawings. Later he scaled up and easily transformed these pieces into personal idioms through manipulations of color, scale and context.

My aim with this project was to use his well-known artworks to create a source image, presenting his approach prior to the original paintings he made. Visitors of the gallery will have an idea of the artists mindset behind these pieces and understand how they are created from start to the end.
