The Last Newspaper

The Last Newspaper was an exhibition mounted at the New Museum in New York City in 2010. In addition to presenting art related to publishing and news, the exhibition put "on display" a broup of publishers who actually worked in the galleries. Chief Curator Richard Flood invited us to design the furnishings for the group's workspaces. The budget was tight -- under $10,000 total -- and the timeline was quite short. Our approach was to create a "kit of parts" that could be assembled and combined in numerous ways that could mutate over time as each group inhabited their space. The parts were housed in a central rack that allowed each group to take and return parts and re-configure their workspaces as their needs changed.
