Graduation Project - Book Design & Illustration
Shibata Toyo is a special Japanese woman who began to write poetry at the advanced age of 92. In her book she conveys a message of hope; Her writing gave her a meaning, a reason to get up in the morning and just go on.
Toyo writes clearly and minimalistically about feelings and moments that we all can identify with - memories and longing, The pain of forgetting, loneliness and full acceptance of life as it is.
The project is an illustrated book of Toyo's poems, accompanied by elements inspired by Japanese culture and prints.
