I have created this digital collage as a visual activism to bring awareness to Cardiovascular disease. Cardiovascular disease is the leading cause of death worldwide. It is a term used for a range of diseases effecting the heart such as heart attack or stroke. Contributing factors include obesity, smoking and poor diets.

This creative work represents smoking as one of the leading contributors of Cardiovascular disease. I visually communicated heart disease through the use of news paper, flowers, a man inside a heart, smoke and a hand holding a cigarette.

The news paper represents the media over time and how the awareness of this worldwide killer is not portrayed as enough of a problem in mainstream media.

The flowers represent life which is being taken away from those who choose to smoke, not exercise and eat unhealthy foods, just to name a few. 

The man shovelling inside the heart represents his efforts to remove what is killing him, to me this highlights the inner ego knowing what he is doing is killing him.

The smoke and the hand holding the cigarette highlights the increased risk of death and also how smoking tobacco is addictive.
