Spring in the Mist
With the north wind usually dry and cool air flows to the Alps. On this spring morning however, the constant north wind brought relatively warm and above all humid air, which befogged the hills of the Zurich Oberland.
As I approached this linden tree on the ridge I felt the first drops of rain. I moved for shelter under the tree - and stood there in light rain!
How could the weather change that fast?
Then I took a few steps away from the tree - everything was dry again!
Only now did I recognize this phenomenon of local rain:
The fresh leaves of the linden tree on the ridge filtered so much water that they created their own rain zone!
