Thanksgiving Trip to Boston
Personal Project / November 2012

For the two days right after Thanksgiving Day—November 23-24, 2012—my good friend Ojin and I took a short trip to Boston, Massachusetts. The decision to go was somewhat on the spur of the moment, so we had little time to figure out what we wanted to do there. Ojin had already visited Boston a few times this year, while my last visit dates back to 2008. However, I wasn’t entirely unfamiliar with the area, as my childhood years were spent in a close suburb, Waltham.

Although we were excited about the idea of a brief getaway from New York City, especially from the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy, we weren’t about to jam-pack our schedule with touristy activities. Both Ojin and I were exhausted from our daily matters; we needed a breather. But we also wanted to explore and enjoy the late autumn colors of Boston. So we did.

This is the route we took on (Black) Friday: Megabus ride to South Station – sun-soaking in Boston Common –
lunch and walk on Beacon Hill – watching the beginning of sunfall on the Charles River Waterfront – hotel –
Museum of Fine Arts – dinner at Craigie on Main in Cambridge – back to hotel for a good night’s sleep

This is the route we took on Saturday: brunch in Chinatown – tour around Boston College – Paul Klee exhibit at the McMullen Museum on the campus – a walk-around Quincy Market – South Station – back to NYC

Adding some hand type to the blunt photos I took with my phone, I put together a free and easy visual documentation with snippets of the excursion. It’s good to remember and cherish how happy a Thanksgiving holiday I had.
