Plunge into Los Angeles

Project one Plunge Into Los Angeles
Our sketches and roughs in which we tried to sketch as much as possible to come up with an idea as to what our project would look like.

Our finished final product.
There were six thumbnails that we used before. In the thumbnails, we were exploring the ideas of different fonts, text placement, and different styles for the poster. After the thumbnails, we figured out what we wanted to do and now it was time to put our ideas to the test in Photoshop. For fonts, we eventually were lead to a youtube video which then had a link to a site with numerous free downloadable fonts that we found useful.

We tried different ideas in Photoshop. Some of these ideas include rasterizing the photo, adding on smart filters, highlighting parts of our image and applying masks over the words to have that behind-the-building effect. We also added a numerous amount of photo filters, testing which one was the most aesthetic. Instead of a complicated skyline, we decided that we only wanted a simple one with one base color that faded off. By testing a few different gradients we decided that the sunset-orange would suit the image best.

In this collection, you will find different graffiti font texts that we were considering using. We ended up going with Bombing https://www.dafont.com/bombing.font?text=graffiti. We also had inspiration from the many different travel posters from many different places. You will find those in the collection link above. Also, we used our picture from Sasha • Instagram.com/sanfrancisco on Unsplash.

Below here are the stages of progress that we went through each time changing something whether it be the font, font color, gradient, background, word shapes, or even the entire image.
