ROM Poster - Art Culture

ROM POSTER
This project was done in my Art Culture class at George Brown College. We started off by taking a field trip to the Royal Ontario Museum. The purpose was to find an artifact from any of the exhibits based on a certain country (e.g. China, Japan, First Nations). During my tour of the museum, two artifacts caught my eye in the China exhibit.
I was drawn to a Chinese snuff (right) jar and jade hairpin (left) in the China exhibit.
My next step was manipulating the images on the computer so I was able to make an image pig enough to trace and transfer onto 9x12 Canson pastel paper.
Left: Printed my photos in a larger scale, cut them out, and wrapped the hairpin around the snuff jar.
Middle: Traced the jar and hairpin on tracing paper in order to transfer the image on Canson paper.
Right: Traced the China typography in order to transfer letters onto Canson paper.

I transferred the images onto the Canson paper I had chosen and made a colour palette on the same paper in order to figure out which colours to use on my final poster.
Here are shots of the final poster.
