The following project was a wearable technology project with the objective to follow the design research and development process with a subject or topic.
The following subject area of interest that was explored was individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The final project deliverables were a wearable device 3D model, a physical prototype, an application, and packaging.
I decided to commit myself to designing for individuals with autism and their caregivers for this project because my boyfriend's brother, Brian, has autism. After two years of becoming close with this member of the family, I understand a bit about his lived experience and some of his daily problems. I decided to do something about the problems Brian and his caretakers face. The assistive products segment of medical technology is thus the area of wearable tech that I explored in this project.
