William Saroyan Theater (Performing Arts)

The William Saroyan theater, the City’s premiere venue for performing arts, originally opened in October 1966. Its success was greater than anticipated as it became the center for cultural, social, and convention use. However, aside from minor upgrades to carpet and paint, the building remained largely unchanged for the next 40 years.
Increasing the opportunity for revenue was the main object in the remodel effort. The desired overall appearance needed to be stylish, yet timeless. Natural stone, wood and hand-finished metal elements were used to achieve the desired effect. The Lounge and Restrooms were expanded to better accommodate the patrons and the furniture was replaced making the space more inviting. The project was completed in June 2007.
