Vertical Terraces

We find ourselves surrounded by a lowdensity environment formed by single-family houses and a system of five-storyblocks closing the main avenue.

The plot is located in the collectivehousing system on the main avenue. But we are interested in certain elements ofthe terraced single-family housing system.

INTERESTS
1. The house + the free space of the plot.
2. The possibilities of growth derivingfrom this, as long as we do not run out of buildable area.

STRATEGY
1. Piling up the terraced houses.
2. Dividing the houses in two parts:
a) built space 60 m2
b) free space or plot 60 m2
3. The opened and preset system of growthon the plot. You decide what you need.
4. A façade that can be rolled up which arranges all themovements system in the different types of houses.
It has two functions; the image ofdomestic scale through the serigraphy with floral motifs, and the protectionagainst sun and cold.

After being tenants for some years, theybuy a terraced house.
Vertical, with a roll up façade and huge possibilities.
It is their chance, an affordable housefor their earnings, but with plenty of future possibilities.

STAGE 1.02- 14 MONTHS LATER
Their relationship consolidates and theydecide to take it a step further.
To extend the house with an extra room forthe coming baby.
They decide to built 15 m2, keeping a free spaceof 40 m2.

STAGE 2.03- 32 MONTHS LATER
Juan wants to spend more time with thebaby and decides to build a studio so he can work from home as web pagedesigner.
They acquire another 12 m2, making a total of 27 m2 built surface andkeeping 28 m2of free space.

STAGE 3.03- 48 MONTHS LATER
The office grows too much and Juan decidesto look for another place to work, while maintaining a small area for workingat home.
They regain part of the garden.
They eliminate 12 m2, having a total of 27 m2 of built surface andkeeping 28 m2of free space.
