The demand of clean energy is growing worldwide and people are seeking for sustainable alternatives. The main aim of our project was creating a suspended monorail train that could generate most of its energy in a fast and efficient way.

We decided to use the wind force in order to generate the energy. The wind produced by the vehicle’s motion will power up a set of turbines placed on its body. The big wind turbine in front would minimise friction and transfer the air stream under the train while pushing it upward. The horizontally mounted turbines on the roof would also produce minimal air resistance. The statistics show that the average wind speed for producing energy is 4-6 m/s.Taking in account the average speed of a Suspended Monorail Vehicle which is 70km/h (19m/s), this is more than enough for the wind turbines to generate electric power. All the energy will be stored in the batteries under the floor. It will be used as a temporary power source for vehicle’s electronics, wi-fi, interior and exterior lightning. The entire turbine-battery installation is meant to activate in a symbiosis with the main power source. The rail could host some solar panels on top depending on the location.
