Week 7 - Light & Scale #oneperday2017

Lookout Point
#oneperday2017

TECHNIQUE
iPhone 6s Photography

PROCESS
I made this image by using my nephew's toy cars and setting them up in likely stationery scenarios. I looked for somewhere in my front yard that could resemble a cliff or valley to look out over. I positioned the cars and took a photo from a low angle facing out to the view. This is all natural lighting.

REASONING
My imagination was triggered when I stumbled upon the location. My dogs dig massive holes out the front of my house and I knew there was potential to utilise this as a microscape.

REFLECTION
I'm very happy with how this image turned out. I think it sets the scene really well. In future I would like to try recreating this at night time or sunset as that's a more popular time for cars to pull up at a lookout.

Car Garages

TECHNIQUE
iPhone 6s Photography, Photoshop

PROCESS
I made this image by using my nephew's toy cars and setting them up in likely stationery scenarios. I cut up 3 polystyrene cups to create garage doors and positioned the cars as if they were in motion driving out of their garages. I layered in a background landscape from another photo I took because the original image contained objects that contradicted the scale at which I was trying to set with the objects in the foreground.

REASONING
My imagination was triggered by the movie Cars. I liked that they had hotel rooms for cars made out of traffic cones. I tried to recreate a similar idea here with the objects I had at my disposal.

REFLECTION
I'm very happy with how this image turned out. I think it sets the scene really well. In future I would probably choose a different background landscape because the sky is quite overcast but the natural light and shadow in the foreground image indicates that it is a very sunny day so there is a bit of contradiction there.

Car Wreck

PROCESS
I made this image by using my nephew's toy cars and setting them up in likely stationery scenarios. I rolled each car over the edge and let it fall naturally. I think that is what makes this image so effective.

REASONING
I was trying to think of another scenario in which cars would be stationery that would translate in a single image and a car wreck came to mind. I chose this location because there were a lot of rocks and leaves laying around that resembled rubble or debris you may see with a car wreck.

REFLECTION
I'm very happy with how this image turned out. I think it sets the scene really well.
