PROJECT SUMMARY
The Design Trust built the capacity, capital, and political will to strengthen and expand urban New York City’s booming urban agriculture movement. Urban agriculture is a great way to produce food that is local, healthy, and sustainable. Farmers and gardeners, however, need to know – in numbers – all those good things that grow in their plots, and demonstrate their impact for funders and policy makers, in order to sustain their practice.

We developed tools with farmers and gardeners for them to collect and use data to quantitatively demonstrate output and outcomes, build capacity, and communicate the value of their efforts to policy makers and funders. There are now over 350 gardens in over 60 cities around the globe recording data.
