Depicting reality
Looking for the unpredictable
I have depicted various subjects through observation, documentation and calculation. The tools I mostly have used here is 3d-package "Maya" combined with extensive MEL-scripting. My ambition have been to be as "exact" and "realistic" as possible in some areas, and at the same time totally ignoring others.

I find inspiration to this idea in scientific modelling For example is in the creation of models used for engineering certain aspects of nature totally ignored and others perfectly (mathematically) modelled. The most banal aspect of mathematical models is that it is completely theoretical, and lacks visual impact. Still it is a perfect model, within its perspective.

For me imaging in art is similar. The visual image may be alot different from a newsphoto, and still mediate a subject realistically. All kind of reproduction and imaging highlights certain aspects and blurres others, and I therfore think art have the ability to visualize aspects of reality in extremely realistic ways. The problem is the total lack of perspective, which makes art into art, and makes art totally useless in using art for mediating messages. The realistic aspects of an image is in the eyes of the beholder, because the beholder selects the perspective.
