VOICES: My Creative Journey

Nurturing My Dream

INTRODUCTION:

This assignment requires us to use Adobe Spark to create a video about our creative life, obstacles, challenges and aspirations. We need to answer professor's questions to create our own stories. The story includes our create/artistic life in the past, our current creative life as a student in Foundation Art and Design and our ambitions for our future creative direction. Based on the story, we create our own drawings which will be used as slides in the video. The final part is to make the video on Adobe Spark and post our create process on Behance.

MATERIALS:

Hardware: iPad
Software: Illustrator Draw; Photoshop;
Platforms: Creative Cloud, Behance, Adobe Spark

CREATIVE PROCESS:

Audience: People who do not like their current jobs.
Purpose: Inspire people who have difficulty in their current career and want to seek other opportunities.
Importance: I want to share the struggles I faced between a good paying job and my dream job and how my passion drew me close to my dream.
Tone: Friendly and conversational.

a) First Story Outline/Script
This is my first draft.
b) Illustrations
I used Adobe Illustrator Draw to create some rough drawings based on my story.
This is the thumbnails for my story.
c) Final story Outline/Script
After having a discussion with my Professor, I decided to reorder my story, to make it more interesting.
d) Storyboarding

I used Adobe COMP to illustrate the sequence of slides for my presentation.
PRODUCTION METHODS & WORKFLOW:
I used Photoshop to edit my drawing, so it would look more professional.
Then, I crop the image and saved it at an appropriate size.
I then started to create my video on Adobe Spark.
I chose a pink colour at the beginning, but it was too bright. My audience are people who have some work experiences, so I thought the theme would not be suitable for them.
I finally decided to use the light blue theme. It brings out a peaceful and warm feeling. The background music was a light music to continue to keep the feeling.
I firstly used a full screen to layout my video, but it turned out some of the images were cut off while they were playing.
So I decided to switch to the One-thing layout, and it worked well.
CONCLUSION:

It is my first video editing experience. It was an interesting learning process. Although I had some difficult with the technology, I enjoyed creating it. Through the process, I have learnt how to use the Adobe Spark to create a video. Also, it helped me to review my skills of Illustration and Photoshop which I learnt last semester. I hope to get better by continuing to practice my skills on Adobe Spark Video.
