CanSafe Campaign and Website

This is a campaign created to support male victims of domestic violence, we were asked to create a campaign with any message we saw fit, as long as it related to our assigned topic. For my campaign I decided I did not want to focus only on shelters, but on the victims as well. In my research I learned a lot about male victims and how one of the reasons they don’t have any male only shelters is because male victims fear being looked down upon if they come forward to say they need help. Many believe because they don't ask for the help, it means they don’t need it, but I see this as another problem we must address.
This was the inspiration behind the ‘No Men Left Behind’ campaign. I created wearable merchandise such as T-shirts, buttons, hats, and bags for people to purchase and of which a portion of the profits would go towards opening male only shelters in Canada. Therefore the campaign was generally marketed towards middle to upper class people, looking to give money to charity and have something to show for it. For this reason I also included a hashtag because I want to reach people who want to show the world they care about a cause.
This is my intention because the campaign actually has a second target market, male victims. I wanted to find a way to show support to victims but it did not seem effective to do this through advertising. So instead I have constructed the campaign so the public wearing the merchandise will show victims that there are people out there who won’t judge them. In this way I am able to reach both target audiences to effect the most positive change.
