Gambler's Paradise

Our goal was to create a travel poster for the city of Las Vegas. We only had one image to work with so we tried to bring in various elements of Las Vegas like dice, cards, and a slot machine. Our inspiration collection:

Our first sketches:
After sketches we settled on two main ideas, 1 was incorporating a slot machine and putting the image in a slot machine, which we eventually would never execute. Second, we would create a logo to use as our type. These are the refined sketches.
Unfortunately, we were never able to incorporate the slot machine. We tried several logos, however, none of them really worked. Below is our first, composition which is not our final product.
The final product:
We started by using filters to give the original image classy and more simplistic look similar to many travel posters today. Then we enlarged the people at the bottom of the image to make them a larger element in the poster and giving a nice black contrast at the bottom, which would work as a place for text. We found a script font on dafont.com which we used for the gambler's paradise text. The font gives a fancy yet fun feeling to the poster reflecting Las Vegas well. We came up with gambler's paradise as a nickname for Las Vegas as it represented the fun atmosphere of Vegas. Next, we put another fun yet simple font at the bottom using the contrast of the enlarged crowd. Finally we added, two red dice to represent the gambling, fun aspect of Las Vegas.
