Winner of Governor's Award for Best Public Place, 2007
Concept design through construction oversight of a community park in the Corazon y Animas National Historic District in Southern Colorado. Developed on a former brownfield and emphasizing intensive community involvement, this park established a new gateway to the Downtown Revitalization area and Historic District. Inspired by surrounding historic buildings and regional mining and railroad architecture, the park featured a hand-built steel pergola, locally quarried stone benches and planters, mining-themed playground, arboretum and regulation Bocce courts. The park received the Governor’s award for Best Public Place shortly after construction.
