Publishing and Narrative - Collections
A highly editorial based project in which we were asked to produce a 20-paged monograph which would communicate a story or narrative about a collection of objects of our choice. My objects were a collection of goblets, new and old, which I had gathered over the years from various sites, or that had been passed down through the family.
My concept was to use Sullivan's 'Form Follows Function' as a method to gain further understanding about how the objects should/designed to be used based on their structure and form. This theoretical approach enabled me to de-construct each object by its form and define the most suitable context for each goblet.
The editorial design of the monograph reflects this concept through the abstract & structural composition of images and text, which communicate the process I experienced to gather the information on the page, analysing the goblet form by form.
