The theme is ROOTS...
This one simple word encompasses so much of why we love Columbia. Columbia is a deeply rooted community which allows everyone to stand tall and grow no matter what hits us. Not even two floods can pull us out by our roots as we came together and grew stronger than ever. The web of roots in Columbia originates from its southern spirit and charm. This can be seen everywhere, from the constant connection to strangers through kind greetings and conversations to the traditions we can all bond over. This ingrained mesh has allowed so many college students to come to Columbia, take root, and develop into adults. Also, we hope that this theme also highlights the ability of a Ted talk to find the root of concept or idea and have a lasting impact on its audience.
