This logo is for an asphalt paving Construction Company. They don’t currently have a logo. They preferred to go with something straight forward that incorporates their name, and their current colors of red, black, and gray. I chose the Dust Serif font for the P/R, because I felt like it followed the dirty construction style feel. The Western font I used for the word “paving,” because I felt that it matches the personality of the company. The shape is both a P and an R at the same time to represent the name of the company. There is a red slash to separate the two letters and combine it into one. The letters of the company are for both owners, and both are equally important. This is why I just incorporated them both into one shape without making one stand out more than the other.
I used a rectangle shape for the back of the P and R and tried to make it look like a paved road. I included a basic asphalt shoveler shape. They wanted construction equipment, but it was more realistic to incorporate the stick figure laborer for the logo so I went with that. The text and shape flow together to illustrate the company and what they do. The P/R shape is larger for contrast, because it is the most important element.
