Venice Biennale - Prospect North

In June 2016 we exhibited ‘Prospect North’ at the Venice Biennale for six weeks. The exhibition was chosen to be Scotland’s representative at the World famous event. Prospect North investigates Scotland’s relationship with the Nordic countries and the Arctic and how they have influenced Architecture and design in Scotland. Should a future Scotland look North rather than South in order to prosper?

We worked in collaboration with Glasgow based Soluis – World leaders in VR and augmented reality experiential design. The exhibition featured an abstract topographic map of Scotland (made from nearly 3km of timber!). We created 15 videos which captured inspirational projects across Scotland. Visitors could watch the videos through augmented reality – by pointing smartphone devices towards the map. The combination of physical sculpture and new technology really captured the imagination of the visitors.
The exhibition also included an augmented video which played by pointing an ipad towards a painting. We also created virtual reality animal headsets which transported users to a past, present and future vision of Scotland.
