Block A is located in the Northeast corner of Yangshuo County, nearby the east of the Lijiang River and the pier, and surrounded by the northern peaks, were the two main roads and terminals in Yangshuo county; also the image place here. Owner’s requirement: This site fully reflect the architectural style of local characteristics of Yangshuo county, the materials should be adopted blue bricks, flag stones can be locally produced and wooden doors and windows; spatial structure corresponding to the requirements of the local traditional architectural characteristics of the space - just over a hill, white gable, etc.
Tourists can reach the north side pier of this block by boat from Guilin along the river after a few hours boating, and around 150 million visitors per year land on the north side of the crossing terminal, so the block acted as the door function to the Yangshuo County, and commercial facilities alone can not give full play to the great potential of the land, so we want to build a multi-functional space for 1.5 million tourists. This place is not only to introduce the humanities, culture and history, but would also can be the public assembly, places of communication. The tourists set foot on the first when looking from the northeast corner of the junction, and can see the face equivalent to Yangshuo with distinct characteristics of the cone-shaped large-scale information space (the museum).
We adopted a simple construction in order to protect the local landscape of Bingjiang Road, from the appearance along this side of Bingjiang Road decorated with simple materials to match the line and the wall of the building and other produce echoes. At the same time, we set up along the street facade with entrances and exits of a number of decentralized, allowing people to freely enter and leave the space. It was used as a parking place in the west side of the building because it is not so close to the main streets. Flow lines of buildings were taken by the traditional Chinese-style layout: classified as "surround-type", "straight-through" two kinds of people in order to adapt to the psychological walking.
Block B was located in the center of Yangshuo County, and mostly surrounded by government offices with 3-layer buildings, south side close to the main street, north side were independence, and also places for people gathering. According to the traffic status and geographical characteristics, we combine the functional construction of commercial shops and living space combine to show, and "visual" and "natural resources use " as the basis for the construction of the main space. Architectural space and the natural environment there is a combination of rhythm and interaction aimed at reaching a "space" and "visual space", formed the separation and reunification of conception.
There have a mountain land in the north of block. Block A is also able to see beautiful natural scenery in the north side and also fantastic scenery in the south side even though it was reversible. Another site the hall will be built on the north side. Therefore, we set up the North-South flow to connect it to the north side of the hall, and retain the alley culture which provides an excellent condition for the stores.
From the gap of the five towers can view their mountains. We try to make confrontation between the convex form of the natural terrain and the local bump in the state, and build the structure of frame structure with a mixture of local common firewall wall. This kind of structure enhances the relationship between new relationship and the old buildings ones. The material used was local blue bricks, white walls, wood and local yangshuo stone etc.
Walking along the Pinnacle Road (Main road) in the county center of the road east along Pinnacle Road, you will be found numerous the hotels, shops, restaurants on both sides, commercial block is located in the South Pinnacle Road. Not so far, people will be able to see the Lijiang River at the turning of Pinnacle Road, from the streets at the entrance way to the Lijiang River has many buildings on both sides and arranged to form a more uniform landscape and stops. Due to the high density of building space for the public and visitors is difficult to find a place for leisure entertainment although along the Lijiang River has a slender edge of the park but has not yet been to the river bank before such a quiet place. So from this perspective block cannot be stated as the perfect. Town Centre is located in the region and occupied 14,200㎡ of land in the project and the consideration should be given the above situation in the landscape or the street has been to provide the function should have a space plan based on more appropriate instead of small buildings.
Take a view from intensive buildings in Pinnacle Road to the commercial block; it became open and fashionable instead of crowded landscape construction (This open space in a flow of the Lijiang River with width of about 5m which stream across the road surface. The large-scale roof slope for the slow gradually increase in the south, and the landscape itself as from the River to the Peak, a group of man-made landscape for the arts of the earth. This site is designed can be summed up in one sentence: “to build construction rather than to construct the scenery." In addition, such a "street" itself loss its meaning and meanwhile attract tourists and residents enjoy themselves to the open water out space, outdoor stage etc.
