"Expression of a Lunatic"

Another school project for the "Visual Language" subject dedicated to the rhythm found in images. The tool used were these kind of Chinese umbrellas.
Moon was my inspiration. I decided to focus on it's embossed surface and picked those scars to be part of my work evolution.

It's an expression of a Lunatic for it always amazes me how the moon appears to our eyes by every phase. "Lunatic" originally meant someone who went crazy with every phase of the moon, kind of like a werewolf. Most people these days don't believe in moon-caused insanity, but we still talk about lunatics, sometimes meaning clinically insane people. What can I say...I'm just totally amazed by it's beauty!
My first sketches and evolution...
The final sketch.

Phase 1 : Full moon
Phase 2 : It's best half
Phase 3 : My favorite shape
I colored my umbrellas in Blue because of the feelings and sensation it conveys. The sticks were colored in yellow to create sort of a shiny and warm contrast. I used black strings standing for the shadows and red fabrics for my relationship with this color will always remain special. The rhythm is displayed from the first umbrella to the last by making the three of them standing as a one.

So this is it. Hope you like my work!
