This book was 25 pages long and contained the biographies and design works of five different graphic designers. All the artists named Salvador Dali, Paul Rand, Herb Lubalin, Armin Hofmann and Paula Scher were well known in the design field so gathering the information regarding their best works they had done was one of the biggest challenges for our team for this project.
Even though the research was a challenge for the design team, but it was a great experience to look through the lives and great works these world famous graphic designers have done. The group had conducted many meeting and spent many hours on research to obtain the best artworks created by these five artists.
Another challenging part of this project was to make the master pages layouts.Since it was an introduction to InDesign software, most of the designers in our team didn’t aware of the master page layout. Once we get pass the master page layout, it was a smooth road down. An easy example of these master pages layouts is above.
After creating the master page layout, all I had to do was to place the information in their respective areas. We didn’t have to use any sketches or digital thumbnails for this project because it wasn’t necessary for this type of project. Everything was planned and executed in InDesign as we can see the WIP screen captions of some of the pages.
As a result, the group had to print this book on a quality paper and bind it so it will look like a professionally designed book. It was my first time creating a digital book, and I had never done the printing and binding part before, but this project helped me learn this side of the design too and gave me a platform to work with pressure in future related projects like this.
